VILPE supports promoting diversity in electronic sports (esports) as Finland participates in the Nordic Championship Women 2024.

For VILPE, it is important to support a wide range of sports: this applies not only to different sports but also to providing support to both men’s and women’s teams.

“Women’s esports is on the rise, and now we have an excellent opportunity to support it,” says VILPE’s CEO Tuomas Saikkonen.

Supporting esports was a natural choice, as the company has enthusiastic CS2 hobbyists. The employees’ CS2 team competes in the Kanaliiga (a Finnish esports league for companies), and VILPE also collaborates with Havu Gaming.

“We want to promote positive change, and a good example of this is bringing women’s esports to the forefront. VILPE’s support is specifically directed at producing Finnish content for the event,” says Saikkonen.

The Nordic Championship Women 2024 is a CS2 championship tournament for women and non-binary players. It will be held in Jönköping, Sweden, from October 25th to 27th, and the event can be followed both in person and online. Finland’s national team, appointed by the Finnish Esports Federation, will aim to defend last year’s championship title.

Adding a Finnish touch to the event is one of the main commentators, Laura “lapa” Kyntäjä, with whom Saikkonen has, for example, commentated the Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major 2022 tournament.
