The First EPDs of VILPE Products Have Been Published

The first EPD calculations (Environmental Product Declarations) completed for VILPE’s products were for the Croco and Power A fasteners, as well as the NV Distance Piece.
The EPD calculations are published on the epdhub website, where they are publicly available for review. The calculations are always verified by a third party. The construction products industry has set a target to have EPDs for 40% of the best-selling products by 2025.
In accordance with the standard, an EPD covers the key environmental impacts across a product’s life cycle. This includes, for example, raw material extraction, transportation, manufacturing, installation, and end-of-life treatment. An EPD is based on a life cycle assessment and presents the environmental impacts of a product in a standardized format.
EPD calculations provide information that can be used to identify potential areas for reducing environmental impacts. These impacts can be reduced, for example, by selecting appropriate raw materials and packaging materials. An EPD does not in itself mean that a product is more environmentally friendly, but rather provides comparable data to support decision-making.
Below is an EPD chart illustrating the manufacturing of roof fans and exhaust pipes at VILPE.
